Anthony Hunter Schiff founded the Firm in February 1984. The son of a physician and a nurse, Tony has had a lifelong interest in health care and health law issues. In 1978, Tony worked at the White House for the Special Assistant to the President for Health. Upon returning to Los Angeles, Tony was among the first attorneys in California to specialize in physician health care law.

Tony has taught healthcare law at UCLA since the 1980s. In 2006, Tony was advanced from Associate Professor to Professor (adjunct) in the Department of Health Policy and Management, Fielding School of Public Health. Tony has a broad understanding of the delivery of medical care. Working closely with clients, he has used different organization models to help physicians organize (or reorganize) large medical groups, some that provide over 100,000 patient visits per year.

Tony is the co-founder (and a Past Chair) of the Health Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as a Past President of the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys. He is an active member in both organizations. In addition, Tony is a life member of the American Health Law Association.

Tony has regularly lectured at national and state meetings on current health law issues to his colleagues and to physicians. Tony has an extensive bibliography of articles on healthcare law and related matters, including annual article contributions to the California Physician’s Legal Handbook published by the California Medical Association.

Tony received his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Political Science and a minor in International Affairs from Lewis and Clark College in 1974. He received his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University in 1977. In December 1978, Tony received a Master’s Degree in Public Health from UCLA (Hospital and Health Services Administration).
